When your life is your prayer, and you are living in a prayerful manner, what it means is that you are in a state of pleasure in giving itself – your heart is so in the state of connection which is experienced as love and joy that all action stems from this place. Whether there is an actual giving of gifts, or a withholding of something that by the withholding is a gift, it means that your life sustains others around you. You become their beacon, their hope, their vision of greater things, something they can touch. Active prayer occurs when you and your prayers of good things you have for people are one and the same. There is no separation, between the two. The gift of your love is already there. You do not need to ask in love, to God, for help for another. You already love them and live in the intention that God should help them in the best possible way. Your seeing them is the prayer, your knowing their heart and their needs, is the prayer. In your heart they are lifted up to God and in that you see them. You would say “We are one before God, one with God. You are my blessing in this and we share the blessing of love together.”
So how do you come to this place of active prayer? How do you grow your prayer life? As children in spirit you begin by either learning formal prayer or it is the practice of having good will towards others, depending on your spiritual teaching. It is not uncommon for people to begin their day with prayer and/or to end their day with prayer. Sometimes it is a sharing with God how your day went and then you move into praying for those whom you love.

The child feels safe and secure with that blanket. We know as adults that a child does not need that blanket with them but to strip it away and leave the child feeling afraid and vulnerable is to increase the suffering in the world.

If for example, you think about how your dad talked to you and telling you to do something when you were younger I am sure you knew right away whether you could push him and when you knew – do it right now! There was a difference between an asking and a command. The words could have been the same but how they were said was the difference as to whether you listened or not!
In the same way, prayer is like those words. What outcomes you have depends on your attitude and where you stand inside yourself when you pray.
What you do typically at the end of the day or in what ever manner you pray is to say something like “ok God, there is this person at work and he really needs your help if you would extend grace to him and help him with his life”… etc. You implore, thank, and use other methods you have been taught that is appropriate.
In the way of active prayer, you see a guy at work and are aware of his suffering. Maybe there are family issues. Maybe he is under a lot of pressure. When you see this or are moved by compassion, hold him in your love. As you focus on him all the good feelings you have in that moment enfold him within that goodness You do not need to say anything. He does not need to know.
When ever it comes to you to love this person, do so. It takes only seconds. You continue with your work or whatever you were doing. Continue the practice of becoming love, becoming the prayer with this one person until no matter when you see them you always have deep love and compassion for this person. You never leave the compassion. In this way this guy is always held in the love of God through you. As your ability to love grows, God and the angels will support you and help you with even more love for you and those whom you are able to pray for. In this way you become aware of the needs of the people even before they ask. Your heart becomes closer to the heart of God and ultimately closer to the heart of people.
Sometimes when you see people who have needs you can say a prayer for them that their needs be fulfilled and because you practice walking in the love of God all the great beings of compassion will be walking with you also, healing and teaching with you side by side. You are beginning to walk the teachings of the Christ. You are becoming living among people because there is no separation from your actions, your heart and your word. In this you become a living prayer.
